The Sophora is the boot for the months when the pavement is wet and you still have somewhere to be. Smooth black leather on top, and underneath a deep lug sole with a platform at the front and a wide block heel, all in one solid piece of rubber. The tread is real, not decorative: it grips cobbles, tram rails and wet stone.

The platform is what makes the 9cm heel walkable. Because the front of the sole is raised too, the actual pitch under your foot is far gentler than the number suggests, so you get the height without the strain of a true 9cm heel. A textured rubber band runs all the way around the boot between the upper and the sole, a small piece of engineering that keeps water off the seam and gives the silhouette its definition.

A short silver zip on the outer side and a leather pull tab at the back mean you get in and out without a fight. The toe is round and full, which is what keeps this boot looking modern rather than aggressive. Wear it under straight denim, a wool midi, or with opaque tights and a heavy coat.

Made on a French last, with a fine, precise cut. This style is true to size. Order your usual size.

Two things worth knowing. The round toe gives more room across the ball of the foot than our pointed styles, so if the pointed boots are usually tight on you, this one will not be. And if you plan to wear it with thick winter socks, take the size above: the shaft is close-fitting at the ankle. If you are unsure, write to us at info@mangara.be before you order. It is faster than a return.

Designed and signed by Patricia Cossettin, produced in small runs with leather from Leather Working Group certified suppliers.

The Sophora is the boot for the months when the pavement is wet and you still have somewhere to be.
